Accra Heart of Oak came from a goal down to beat Bechem United 2-1 in the final of the 2021/22 MTN FA Cup at the Baba Yara Sport Stadium in Kumasi to clinch their 12th MTN FA Cup trophy.
Heart of Oak came into the game as favorite but Bechem United started the game strongly and got a goal through their striker Emmanuel Avornyo.
The Hunters were leading into the break with the goal until the former Aduana FC and WAFA player, Caleb Amankwaa got on the end of Samuel Inkoom’s incisive free kick from the edge of the box to level the scores for the Phobians as the first half ended one all.
Accra Heart of Oak started the second half with loads of energy with an eye on a goal to conciliate their fans but they were denied by the Hunter’s goalkeeper Abdulai Iddrisu.

The stadium went into fury when the former black satellite skipper, Daniel Afriyie Barne scored in the 60th minute to put the Phobians in the lead with a world class finish to cap his 21st birthday in flair. He smashed home from inside the box after latching onto a pass from Gladson Awako.
Bechem United were reduced to 10-men after winger Augustine Okrah was shown the exit in the 68th minute after assaulting the assistant line one referee.
Coach Samuel Boadu brought on Robert Addo Sowah for the injured Caleb Amankwaa. Kojo Obeng Junior also came in to replace Benjamin Yorke while Willaim Dankyi got sacrificed for fatawu Mohammed as the Phobians held onto win 2-1 to clinch their 12th MTN FA Cup title in history.
The Phobians will be representing Ghana in the CAF Confederation Cup next season.
