AshantiGold FC President, Dr. Kwaku Frimpong has been banned for 10years from all football-related activities and fined GHS100,000, for involvement in betting and match fixing.
This is in relation to the club’s matchday 34 game against Inter Allies last season, which controversially ended 7-0 in favour of Ashanti Gold.

The CEO of Ashanti Gold and son of Dr. Kwaku Frimpong, Emmanuel Frimpong, has also been banned for eight years and fined GHc50,000 for same charges.
In the Ghana Football Association Disciplinary Committee verdict released on 16th May, 2022, it was stated that the President of Ashantigold FC Dr. Kwaku Frimpong is banned from taking part in any football-related activity for a period of 120 months in accordance with Article 34.5(d)(i) of the Ghana Premier League Regulations 2019 and that a fine of One hundred Thousand Ghana Cedis (GHc100,000) is imposed on him in accordance with Article 34.5(d)(ii) of the Ghana Premier League Regulations 2019.”

Meanwhile, Ashanti Gold has been demoted to Division Two after being found guilty of match manipulation In view of the high-scoring game against Inter Allies in the 2020/21 league season which raised suspicions following AshantiGold FC’s win
